"Nothing is as it seems to be, nothing seems to be as it is" - this motto is the guideline for the photographic works of Marlen Peix like a red thread. Marlen Peix does understand photography not only in a classical way as a real picture of objects and situations, but as well as a search for the imagination behind. Finally everything is transitory and subject to constant change.
The photographer is finding her motives in everyday life. Pretended incidental motives or as well insignificant ones will become abstract compositions of pictures, consisting of light, color or form by analog or digital technology used.
Marlen Peix is working regularly very experimental. By the time she has developed a completely original and partly very contrary language of pictures. Sometimes she is using brightly colored picture plays, sometimes she is using quiet black-and-white structures. Sometimes dynamics are ruling the picture, sometimes the composition is bringing tranquillity and harmony.
All pictures have one thing in common - they are inducing a wide field of association. To those who are ready to accept the world of pictures of Marlen Peix, get opened totally new views, however they may look in detail. Last not least the individual memory of the picture by the onlooker will be composed of light, color and elements of structure of far away galaxies, legend and mythical places. Marlen Peix has reached her goal in any case. Looking for very new aesthetics she has given seemingly banal things an additional dimension.
